IRIE Music Newsletter Vol. #5 - Pepsi Month In The Mix Kickoff & Coors Light Escapade Weekend!

Greetings from New York City, So this is the 1st time I’m writing an IRIE Music Newsletter from a location different then good ol’ Miami, Florida! Today, I’m writing from sunny New York City which is a welcome change since I’m out here so much during the winter months. New York really is a great place to be in the summer. As much as NY is known to be the city that never sleeps year round, it REALLY comes alive in the Summer. I’m actually out in NY today for the Kick-Off event for Pepsi’s Month in the Mix! Pepsi has dedicated the month of August the Official “Month In the Mix” which is an ode to hard working DJ’s across the land for setting trends in music and culture and keeping dance floors packed across the land. Tonight’s Kickoff Event in NYC will be held at Arena nightclub and includes a lineup of local NYC favorite and host DJ Enuff, DJ Drama, Quicksilva, Steady Rock, Clinton Sparks, Pharris, Felli Fel, and myself. There will also be some musical performances by Kardinal Official, Ryan Leslie, O’Neal McKnight, Fabolous, Q-Tip and More. This NYC kick off will set the pace for similar events happening throughout the country all in the month of August. I’ll be hosting the Miami event on August 7th at Sprits Nightclub in the Hard Rock with my special guest and legendary Miami area DJ, Kool G and a host of music performances as well. Thanks to the ZSG Golf Classic that took place on July 10th I can say that for the 1st time I’ve played a full 18 holes of golf! Not only did I play a full game but I kicked some tail and took names!! No bragging here but I’m a NATURAL! It was really a great time and the other events, the comedy show, dinner and all the after parties were equally as enjoyable! The highlight of the weekend was the grand finale aka the ZSG All-Star basketball game on Sunday the 13th. Not only did all the fans get to see some great basketball from Zo’s old school team and Dwyane’s new school team they also got to witness my history making DANCE-OFF! In the 3rd quarter of the game I took to center court to host the “Old School vs. New School Dance Contest” where I placed Alonzo Mourning & Damon Jones (team old school) against Dwyane Wade & LeBron James (team new school). All I can see is that it was LEGENDARY! Those boys can dance but I really tripped them up when I took it straight Miami style and challenged them to do the WOO-TANG! Now some of you reading this right now are saying “what’s the woo-tang?” actually everyone outside of Miami is asking this right now. Well no worries your question will be answered in the click of a mouse! The guys struggled and improvised as best they could so I had to help them out with an authentic DJ IRIE WOO-TANG Demo! Tomorrow I’ll be heading back to Miami to host another exclusive Partida Tequila tasting event at the new Aerobar venue on 23rd and Collins, South Beach. The event is from 10pm to Midnight and will feature Partida mixologists doing what they do best in serving up some of the most creative and delectable drinks featuring Partida Tequila! It’s going to be an enjoyable evening and the perfect prelude to the craziness we call Flash Friday’s at Cameo happening right after Aerobar. Until Next Time...
